Second day in New York

The next morning we woke up with bright sun shine and we were ready to hit the town again. One of the things that I wanted to see was the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island. So we took the bus into town and then went on the underground and took the red line that would take us to South Ferry at the tip of Manhattan. But we had not sussed out yet how the underground was working properly and we had to changes lines at Chambers St. Station. As it turned out there were no lines going to where we had to go that weekend and we had to take the bus. So, we were all herded into the bus and off we went, luckily it did not stop along the way and in spite of all the traffic it did not take that long to get there. We walked along the Battery and went to see if we could take the ferry across, but there was a huge line to get on, with a wait of more then an hour, so we said forget it and had a look around the Battery area.

There was a Culturefest for kids going on, and there were some food stalls as well. We found a Curry stand and they were making the naan fresh on the spot, yummy. And for about 16 dollar we had a proper meal that would tie us over for the rest of the day. Then we walked to Wall Street, a lot of tourist there as well, heavy security in place. But the recently renovated atrium of the Deutsche Bank was open. So we had a peek inside, there were quite a few homeless people there, but police was keeping an eye on them. And all they did anyway is have a moment of peace and quiet for themselves.
